Billy Currington’s highly anticipated, first album in three years, We Are Tonight, is scheduled for release on September 17th, 2013 and I can tell you it is well worth the wait! From the first song, “Hey Girl”, Billy delivers the classic sound that has garnered him seven number one hits and adoring fans worldwide.
For the first time, Billy employed the creativity of three different producers on this project, Carson Chamberlain, Shy Carter and Dann Huff. All three have a string of hits and bring their unique styles and techniques to Billy’s newest project.
“We Are Tonight” the title track, is a sure hit. I can’t wait to hear it on the radio and all the fans singing it in stadiums across the country! Billy also includes some tongue in cheek, humorous cuts such as “Hard To Be A Hippie” featuring legendary superstar Willie Nelson and “Wingman” a playful song about a friend that ends up with the girl at the club instead of Billy. A sure fan favorite will be the lighthearted, cover of Jack Johnson’s “Banana Pancakes”, which Billy delivers as only he can.
Billy’s songs have always connected with his listeners on an emotional level. We Are Tonight offers songs that are intimate and heartfelt as well. Cuts like “Another Day Without You” and “23 Degrees And South” will tug at the heartstrings while Billy’s mellow and soulful voice fills the room with lyrics about life, love and relationships.
The final cut on the album is “Hallelujah”, where Billy explores the good things God has made and given all of us in life. It’s a great, upbeat ending to an amazing album.
We Are Tonight has everything that every Billy Currington fan could ever want. Great Songs, Great Production, and of course Billy. The only downside to this release is that you have to wait until September 17th to get it, but as I said in the beginning, it is well worth the wait!
While your waiting be sure to pick up “Hey Girl” on iTunes now!
