We Are Tonight, Billy Currington Live

It’s a warm June evening in Nashville and 2,000 or so of Billy Currington’s biggest fans have gathered for a show behind the Tin Roof in Nashville. The crowd is filled with anticipation as they await the moment when Billy takes the stage. There’s a warm breeze blowing and a lot of alcohol flowing making everyone happy and ready to party to some of their favorite songs.

The time finally arrives after a couple of respectable opening acts, and Billy charges the stage, I’m sure anyone within a couple of miles knew he was there due the thunderous applause and screaming fans.

Hit after hit, Billy thrilled the crowd with songs like “That’s How Country Boys Roll”, “Good Directions” and “People Are Crazy”, which drove the crowd to a whole new level of crazy! Billy continued with “Pretty Good at Drinkin’ Beer” and “Don’t”. Then had a special guest, who got almost as much applause as Billy, join him on stage. Who was this special guest? Paco, his chocolate lab. The song? What else, “Like My Dog!” Paco wandered the stage while Billy belted this obvious fan favorite. It was a very cool moment to see Billy with his “best friend”. Although Scotty Emerick and the late Harley Allen penned the song, you could tell the lyrics totally resonated with Billy and Paco, and accurately portrayed their relationship.

Billy, known for his upbeat, driving anthems and humorous songs, is equally known and loved for his intimate songs about life and love. You could hear a hush come over the crowd as the melodies of his smash songs, “Let Me Down Easy” and “Must Be Doing Something Right” swept over the crowd.

The night would not be complete until Billy played his current hit song “Hey Girl”. Even though it’s his newest song, it was awesome to see and hear every person in the crowd singing along to every word!

Billy’s upcoming release “We Are Tonight” has been much anticipated by fans and industry alike. It’s the first new music from Billy in three years, but it is well worth the wait! The record is filled with songs that remind you why you fell in love with his music in the first place.

Billy teamed up with his longtime producer Carson Chamberlain for the project, but also enlisted the help of two other producers, Shy Carter and Dann Huff, both of which have numerous smash hits with other artists as well. When Billy was asked about using three different producers for the project, he responded, “This album is the first time that I have ever worked with three different producers, it wasn’t planned but just kind of happened that way. It was a great experience to be able to bring a different sound to this album and I hope the fans love it as much as I do.” After seven number one songs and millions of album sales, I’m pretty sure Billy has a good idea of what the fans like.

“We Are Tonight”, is scheduled to be released on Tuesday, September 17th. Let me encourage you, run, don’t walk and get this amazing new record from one of country music’s most beloved artists. You will be so glad you did!
